Andrew and I trekked up to Lawrence this past Saturday for a little getaway. We left Mia with my mom and dad for her first night on her own... and she did surprisingly well. I think I cried more than she did when we left her.

Once I got over the no-Mia sadness, the Babymoon was just peachy. We checked out all the new stuff at my alma mater. We visited the sweet sports museum in Allen Fieldhouse and then went out for ice cream with Val and Scott. The ice cream was hella chocolately... but I guess that's what I should expect when I order something called something like "Death by Chocolate." I also discovered that the apartment complex I lived in during college is totally not called the same thing anymore.

After ice cream, we checked into our awesome possom hotel and then went to Mass. After Church we decided to walk from our hotel to dinner. (It looked a bit stormy outside, but the restaurant was only a block away and we figured we'd be okay.)

We ate at the very yummy Free State Brewery where my hubby got some great beer while I drank a preggo-friendly glass of lemonade. It turned out that it stormed like crazy while we were in the restaurant but had pretty much passed over by the time we returned to the hotel. So we only got slightly sprinkled on... but it was a lovely chance to get kissed in the rain so that was pretty neat.

We took full advantage of having cable for the night, a ginormous king-size bed, and a heated indoor pool.

It was a much needed and very fun getaway for the both of us.

The strange part of it was that I realized just how much effort we put into parenting. It's nuts to me how much time I spend just making sure Mia isn't in to something she's not supposed to be in or just playing with her. I hardly knew what to do with myself without a baby to keep an eye on. And in about 3 months... I'll have two of them to keep an eye on. Craziness!

I hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did. Yeay for babymoons!!!

100 Days to Go!

I just saw on my facebook countdown today that there is only 100 days until U2's due date. 100 DAYS!!! HOLY COW!!! On top of that, my doctor told me today that I'm measuring about a week ahead of time. I don't know if that has any bearing on this baby coming early, but that'd be kinda sweet.

I have one more appointment in like 3 weeks and then I go to every-two-week appointments. This pregnancy is going SOOOO fast.

In anticipation of U2's birth, Andrew and I have planned a tiny getaway for just the two of us. This weekend we'll be leaving Mia with my parents (for her first overnight away), and we're heading out for a 24-hour babymoon. We figured it's probably the last time we'll be alone for about the next 18 months since I plan to nurse U2, so for once the hubby and I are actually kinda splurging. I'm looking very forward to it (not so much the being without Mia part... but more the being with JUST Andrew part.)

In other news, I've definitely been slacking in the blogging department lately. Last week was the one-week-each-year that my job actually gets kinda stressful. We had a major event in and I am kinda in charge of all the background details. I worked 2 full time days in a row, which was very odd because I'm totally not used to that anymore. I was way exhausted by the end of the day having missed my teeny naps with Mia per the usual schedule. But it was also neat to be so crazy busy at work again. It seems I thrive when there's lots and lots to do and not a lot of time to do it. I'm not sure how to adapt that little piece of knowledge of myself to fitting into good housekeeping skills... but maybe it can happen.

Here's a toast to 100 days until I'm a mommy of 2 out-of-utero little ones! Wee Hoo!

Summer Fun

Swimming has become a fun activity for the family so far this summer. This is a short video of Mia sporting her floaty swimsuit. She cracks me up in this thing...
