Oh the Joy!
Today marks me being 36 weeks and 1 day pregnant. And if that doesn't impress you... how about that it's only 3 weeks and 6 days until we're due!!! WAHOO!!!
In the last couple of weeks, I've started on that "nearing birth of baby" freak-out mode. Everything slightly sarcastic that Andrew says usually makes me cry. I've decided once again that I'm deathly afraid of dying during labor. I feel like I need to be seriously prepping for this kiddo's birth, and yet nothing seems to be getting done. And also... I need help tying my shoes again.
The good news is that Andrew, Mia and I got our butts out of the house today and got some major baby-shopping accomplished. We got a baby book for U2, some nursing attire for Momma, a couple new binkies, and all of the items that new and nursing mommies need when a new one comes along. That means that I can finally pack a bag for the hospital tomorrow!! Yeay!
Also during our shopping expedition, Mia and Andrew both got new shoes, Andrew got a cool new shirt, we got to eat out at Old Chicago and we attended a sweet Octoberfest at one of the Church's in town. Overall, it was a fabulous day though EXTREMELY tiring for this very pregnant Momma.
As for U2, he/she seems to be doing well. Getting bigger every day and still kicking like a crazy baby. Baby has been head down for the last month, so I'm hoping he'll stay that way for labor. I've had a few Braxton Hicks contractions that get somewhere near feeling like real ones, but nothing major yet. I have my next (and first weekly) checkup on Monday, and I'm hoping to find out if we've progressed at all... though that may be wishful thinking considering we're still 27 days out.
But anyhoo... this baby is coming soon and that's super cool and I'd much rather talk about that than any more silly political stuff.

Debate Stuff
Andrew and I watched the first Presidential Debate last night. I thought it was very interesting. But in watching, I wondered in which statements each candidate may have been exagerrating a bit. I thought they both did a good job of defending their votes when the other accused them of certain things... but this article I found this morning cleared some more of it up. I thought I would share:

Things I don't understand
Why is it that a mother who has a baby at term or early and decides to leave the baby to die in a dumpster can be prosecuted? Is it because the baby has rights at that point?
And if the baby HAS rights, when did he/she get them?
And if the answer is "birth", then why doesn't presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama, believe that baby has rights at birth in the case of a botched abortion?
I personally think babies have rights long before they're ever born, but it concerns me GREATLY when someone who may become our future president won't vote to give that baby rights even AFTER it's born. Very messed up thinking.
As one of my favorite pro-life t-shirts says:
EQUAL RIGHTS FOR PRE-BORN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
