Goulash

3 Things:

1) I had a bizarro dream the other night. It was about this guy that I almost dated but never did date. I had just gotten married to him... and I was absolutely adamant that we would NOT consummate the marriage. Why did I not want this? Because I didn't want the marriage to be real. I wanted to be married to Andrew. Why had a married this guy who I only sort of thought was cool? It was a not-so-fab dream that I was extremely happy to wake up from. I'm wondering if it was a sign of needing closure with this fella. Strange.

2) I went shopping with Lisa today. Our mission: to find shoes for her to wear with her bridesmaid dress and possibly to find an outfit for me to wear to the bridal shower. She said, "Let's go to Kohl's first!" I wasn't thrilled at this idea... but I agreed. 3 hours, 25 outfits, 4 trips to the checkout counter, 1 call to the East store and 8 trips to the dressing room later... we left with no shoes... halves of two outfits... and some really cute stuff that we weren't really planning on getting. But we had a WHOLE lot of fun!

3) Do you ever wish a day wouldn't end? This was a wonderful day. This evening we celebrated the possible feast day of a could-be Saint John Paul the Great. It has been one year since we lost our amazing Papa. The Daisy House threw a potluck dinner which we started telling people about yesterday... and we actually had about 15 show up. It was so much fun. Then we went for a walk (the whole pack of us) and played some great tag. (though Andrew and Kim are pretty competitive) After that we prayed a rosary and a Divine Mercy Chaplet (my favorite prayer ever right now). Then we had dessert and spent 2 hours on the back porch in front of the chiminaea (I don't know how to spell that). It was such a GREAT day!!!! (This paragraph had too many parentheses)


O... I guess my three things are up. So I'll sign off for now. I wonder what happen to the crazy Kristi that was posting this time 2 and a half years ago... I had some nutty posts back then. Now they seem a bit humdrum. Strange I think.

Drum roll please...

As the first snow of Spring falls outside my window, I'm reminded that Kansas is a crazy state to live in, and I'm also reminded that it IS in fact spring and I have yet to announce a theme.

Ladies and gents... this one has been brewing all winter and even some of the fall. Unfortunately... it has taken me this long to put all of my thoughts of Spring into a concise name. Basically, I feel like this Spring (and into the beginning of summer) is going to bring of feeling of everything making sense... everything coming together... all of the pieces sort of starting to just fit. And, frankly, I could NOT come up with a way to summarize these thoughts.

And then tonight... with a little help from my good friends at Dictionary.com... I discovered JUST what I had been looking for:

Cuz it seems like the thing to do

So it looks like everyone and their snoop doggy dogg has finally posted on their blogs. Praise God and have a beer!

I think I have a pet peeve of longing for new info from friends and then finding nothing but a 12 day old rotted post on their site. Not that I haven't been guilty of the same thing especially in the past year, but man... it sure is annoying to crave info and find none.

Speaking of cravings... I have a weird thing wrong with me. After some screwed up Natural Family Planning charts and a lot of questioning, I have gone to the doctor and been pseudo diagonosed with this thing called Metabolic Syndrome. I'm not exactly sure what it is and it sounds like not all doctors really think it exists... but mostly it means that I have issues with insulin resistance in my cells and my cholestorol is outta whack. And it's possible that I might experience infertility (SUPER DUPER SAD!!!!) So my doctor tried to put me on some stupid medicine that would make it all better... but before I took the stupid medicine that MIGHT make it all better, I did research and found out that I could change my diet and quite possibly fix it myself. So that's what I've done. My diet is different... like WAY less sugar and WAY less grease and WAY less everything that tastes good. Diets are stupid. But on a happier note, because I've been learning NFP, I've been diagnosed with this thing that eventually could have caused me major problems (heart disease, diabetes, infertility etc)... and because I was charting I know about it now instead of 15 years from now when I have Diabetes already. YEAY FOR NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING!! NFP is fab and I highly recommend it for everyone... even if you have no intention of trying to get pregnant or postponing pregnancy. Charting helps you know all kinds of neat things about your body. It's a Godsend.

In other notes...we're like 54 days from the wedding. Today Andrew and I went to look at our future apartment. And the stinking ladies wouldn't let us see it. I'm getting really sick of these little chickies (why is it exactly that nearly all apartment complexes have size 0 fake-blond witchy looking 20-somethings working at them?) -oops... I think I just stereotyped. Anyhoo... these chicks are all "For liability reasons, we can't let you look at the apartment until we've had a chance to get through it since the last tenant moved out." Now I completely understand if they need to clean the joint up before they let us see it... but LIABILITY REASONS??? I think this was a big fat lie used to cover up the fact that the last time we were in there the little desk person told us that of course the previous tenant didn't smoke and she was sooo clean and she always had candles burning. Whatever. and Stupid.

Too bad for Andrew that this little encounter sent me into witchfest 2006, and he had to deal with me being very pissy for the rest of the day. (And we went to see the apartment at like 10:30am.) Poor dear. I do so love him.

In other news, if you haven't read the book "Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis, it is a MUST READ.

I should probably like sleep now. And also I should pray that I wake up in a better mood than I had this entire day. Thanks for reading my rant. Or at least skimming it.

ALL OF THESE THINGS. And it changes by the hour. Seriously... like 6 hours ago I was super pumped about the wedding... the marriage... the husband... the everything. And about 20 minutes ago I was crying my eyes out because it's SOOO stinking stressful.

There's all these little things that keep popping up to worry about. Most of them are things that I can't just snap my fingers and make go away either... or at least they never seem like those things right at the moment.

I think wedding planning and marriage planning would be a WHOLE LOT EASIER if it didn't involve everyone and their dog. Like... if I had mad people skills, then all these little issues would go away... but because I don't know how to say the things I'm thinking without pissing someone off or stressing someone out or making someone angry... I just don't say them at all and it's blecky.

I vote that we go back to a bride, a groom, a priest, 2 witnesses and a Church.

***side note*** Actually, I really think all this stress is definitely worth having all of Andrew's and my loved ones at the wedding and reception and dance. Because I can't imagine celebrating such a huge thing in life without all of y'all. But I just needed to get that little rant out to make the stress melt away so I could sleep. Yes. I'm much better now.

Lots of changes, old Max, lots of changes

Hello friends and neighbors,

In today's episode we'll be discussing how different life is about to become. For those of you unfamiliar with our show... we take a topic, beat it to death with a hammer, and the merrily continue on our way towards something less or more disconcerting.

In 64 days and 50 minutes from the time of this post, the wedding music will have begun. And I'll soon walk down the aisle to become a Mrs. Is anyone else a little concerned that it is already March? I mean... seriously... wasn't it just November a few weeks ago?

Now... I'm not getting cold feet or anything yet... but I am struck at how much things will change. Getting married means becoming a Mrs. Becoming a Mrs means living with a boy. Living with a boy means not living at the Daisy house. Not living at the Daisy House means 1 less person to pay rent there. One less person to pay rent there means the house might not be around forever. The house not being around means lots of changes for lots of people. And those people affect other people and more people and lots of people and... MONKIES! (not that it will affect monkies, that was just an explitive thrown in for dramatic effect)

Furthermore and without further ado, it's nuts.

In other news, Lisa got new glasses. So did Jose. And Andrew will get them on Monday. It is a SPECTACULAR week... get it "spectacle"... heh heh.

Hmmm... Well I've about exhausted my energy for writing blogtasticness for now. I shall leave and go back to work.
